I am happy to say I was part of the team that opened McAndrew Elementary five years ago! Five years and going strong. Each year gives me the opportunity to perfect my craft, meet new families, and share in the learning process. It is a blessing to work and be part of an incredible community of administrators, educators, parents, and students! It has been a wonderful journey and I look forward to making many more memories at McAndrew!

I am so happy to welcome all my students and families to the Fabulous in 1st classroom. All signs are indicating we are going to have another FABULOUS year! I was very impressed with the enthusiasm I saw each new school day! Students were excited and ready to begin learning each morning. Our classroom looks amazing! Everyone was able to organize their supplies in their cubbies making it a quick and seamless transition as we move through the day. They are all adjusting nicely to the daily routine of 1st grade. Please take some time to comment on your child's first week of 1st grade! Can't wait to share some of the comments in class!
Alexis shared her idea for the car of the future. It included technology, was environmentally friendly, and who doesn't love purple! Ty, a buddy from Mrs. Tomasino's 4th grade class, helped draft her prototype using the tinkercad website. Our class was able to observe the process from drafting to printing!
1st graders are innovative inventors and have unique ideas for improving transportation in the future. Looking at the past and present forms of transportation helped to inspire new visions for the coming years.
Collaborative groups notice special features poets use in their poems. First grade readers learn to analyze poetry for rhyme, perspective, and also make connections to the poem!
There's nothing like reading a good book in the shade of the trees on a beautiful, breezy afternoon. Mrs. Tomasino's 4th grade class and our Fabulous 1st graders shared stories and smiles Friday before dismissing from school. It has been sometime since my last post...
I hope all HIGHLANDERS had an enjoyable summer. My family and I had a blast! We visited with family and friends, spent time at the pool, played soccer and had an incredible time in California. Although summer is almost gone, I have a great feeling about this school year. I am finishing up a few things in our classroom in preparation for Meet the Teacher Night! It's always exciting to meet my new students and their families. I know my boys were anxious to pack their backpacks with their school supplies and head back to school to see the smiling faces of their teachers. I look forward to meeting my new bunch of FABULOUS FIRST GRADERS! |
